Tooth Development and Identification Charts
The 20 primary teeth already are present at birth in the baby's jawbones and often begin erupting as early as six months of age. They are shed at various times throughout childhood to make room for the permanent (adult) teeth. By age 21, all 32 of the permanent teeth have usually erupted.
Keep in mind that there are differences in the times when children's teeth erupt and are shed. These charts will help you identify primary teeth and understand how the mouth develops during childhood and the teen years.
